I have not blogged in ages because I am literally a sloth in human form. But really I’m that type of blogger who gets an idea in their head and plans and plans but then never actually produces the post. Well I’m a changed person and I’m back and I’m better (10 points if you spot Bryson Tiller). Christmas is just around the corner and I am so excited. It’s my favourite time of the year and it doesn’t just last for one day but all the way into the New Year. I don’t know what it is, I think it’s the sense of nostalgia that instantly comes from seeing a piece of tinsel or from hearing a snippet of “Last Christmas”.
Well anyway let me get to the point of the post. November is finished and I CANNOT believe it is the end of the year. I remember waking up with a hangover on New Year’s Day this year like it was yesterday. I have accomplished probably much less than I wanted to, but I have definitely learnt a lot of lessons. In general though, this year has been a bit of a weird one. Politics and the death of icons is probably enough to make us look back at 2016 with a sad face and a heavy heart. Despite all the horrible things that have happened this year and the fact that it has gone so fast, it has made me appreciate everything. Life is short, the years feel shorter as you get older, you don’t know how long you have with people, and you don’t know if you’ll ever get to repeat a moment. Nothing is guaranteed, all we can do is appreciate everything and live in the moment; savour the good things and not dwell on the bad. On a lighter note 25 DAYS till Crimbo!!!!! (I cringe at that word)
In order to start blogging more consistently I am going to try out #Blogmas this year. I love Christmas, I love rambling; put the two together and this Blogmas stuff is right up my street. I will be doing a mixture of “normal” blog posts as well as themed Christmas posts. So even if you are mates with the Grinch I’m sure I will have something that you can have a little nosy at. And if you are still a child at heart like myself, stay tuned for everything christmassy over here at AfroMermaid dot net. Here’s to a December of regular posting, let’s all hope I don’t flop.
