Christmas 2015

This year has been intense, eventful and has gone by so fast. I like how Christmas is at the end of the year, happiness to end a long year. This is my first proper Christmas in a few years and after feeling anxious it was lovely.ย There is nothing better than spending time with family and just enjoying each others’ company, especially if you don’t see each other a lot throughout the year.

This year I decided not to sleep-in, the 5 year old in me has returned and I was ready to start to festivities before midday. For the first time I actually made an effort to dress up and I even did a bit of Christmas themed make-up (three cheers for effort haha).

I was that annoying family member that demands that everyone wakes up and enjoys Christmas. In reality I was waiting for my mum to cook the full english breakfast that awaited while I lied on the sofa watching Home Alone for the 4th time in 3 days. It was lovely; pigs in blankets, bacon, eggs, toast and just all round deliciousness. I wish I could have this for breakfast everyday, not the calories but the tastes most definitely.

It was finally present opening time, and I think as you get older, you’re less excited about opening presents and more excited about giving them and appreciation is more than just a “thanks” but a sense of joy. We spent the rest of the day strolling through the forest where we live and lounging around with our food babies watching Christmas films. This is the only day of the year I won’t watch crime documentaries!

Let me just say Eastenders is probably what makes Christmas day, it is the climax of everything and the whole year leads to this one episode. So as a family we sit there watching as the suspense and tension grows and sets in. We wouldn’t be true East Londoners if we didn’t love it this much, good old Danny Dyer!

Having a lovely Christmas this year, made me realise the importance of family and made me appreciate the times we spend with them and those who don’t have the same opportunity. I cannot wait until next years Christmas Eastenders episode and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day! Let’s bring on New Years!
